The Austin Chronicle ``Best of Austin'' Poll

You are too late. The poll has long since ended. We are keeping this on-line so that folks can see an interesting and somewhat unusual application of the Web. The BOA results are scheduled to be published in an early August 1994 issue of the Chronicle.

Good news Web-Heads! The good folks at the Austin Chronicle have agreed to accept electronic ballots in this year's annual ``Best of Austin'' poll. The polls are open now, and voting runs through June 27th.

Through the miracle of the World Wide Web, you too can cast your ballot in this highly environmentally-friendly fashion (we killed no trees and use only the finest 100% recycled electrons). You will need a forms-capable Web client to do so. Both NCSA Mosaic and Lynx will work fine.

We will get to the ballot in a moment. Before we do, a couple of important notes.

I, your electronic vote collector, am not associated in any way with the Austin Chronicle. I volunteered to do this out of a spirit of service to Austin and to the net. Although this is not an ``official'' endeavor of the Austin Chronicle, they have agreed to accept the ballots I collect in this manner. And I promised to be fair and unbiased.
You don't have much time! You must vote by Monday the 27th.
If you want your vote counted, you must fill out the ``Who Are You?'' section at the top of the ballot.
Finally, our network connection isn't particularly zippy. Be patient. It will take a few seconds to download the complete ballot to your machine.
