1. Do you wish to receive the endorsement of the Austin Lesbian/Gay Political Caucus?

Yes, I certainly do.

2. Should you receive an ALGPC endorsement, would you publicize our endorsement in your campaign advertisements and literature?

Yes.

3. Do you believe that the private sexual or affectionate behavior of two consenting adults is an appropriate concern of city government?

No.

4. Do you personally support full civil rights for lesbians and gay men?

Yes.

5. Should elected officials be held to a higher standard with regard to use of hateful or offensive speech in public or private forums?

Definitely.

6. Using the same fitness criteria as applied to heterosexual parents, should gay and lesbian parents be awarded custody of their minor children? Be granted unsupervised visitation rights?

Yes and yes.

7. Using the same fitness criteria as applied to heterosexual applicants, should gays and lesbians be allowed to adopt children?

Yes.

8. If elected, what would be your hiring policy for staff and other city personnel, in regard to sexual orientation? Will you have a written policy that includes sexual orientation?

My hiring policy would include not discriminating against anyone on the basis of sexual orientation. This will be included in a written policy.

9. In interviewing applicants for city employment or appointments, would you be willing to solicit information concerning the applicants' attitudes towards lesbians and gay men?

Yes, as I have done in the past.

10. Would you be willing to oppose the employment or appointment of applicants who demonstrate prejudice or insensitivity towards lesbians and gay men?

Yes, definitely.

11. Have you, or are you willing to sign a pledge to help end hate crimes in Texas?

I am willing to sign a pledge to help end hate crimes in Texas and support that effort in many ways.

12. Please tell us why you are seeking the Austin Lesbian/Gay Political Caucus endorsement.

I want the ALGPC's endorsement because this is a strong, active, well-organized group whose support can make a huge difference in an election. I have supported ALGPC goals and objectives in the past as Councilmember. Now I am seeking your support in my mayoral campaign.
