[posted to austin.usenet.config and emailed to addresses in X-Complain-To:] Advisory spam cancelations have been issued for excessively re-posted messages in the austin.* hierarchy. These cancelations were issued because the manner in which the postings were made is an abuse of Austin-area Usenet resources. These cancelations were NOT issued just because somebody didn't like or disagreed with the messages. These cancelations are advisory. Each news site chooses whether it will honor or reject them. Most choose to honor them. The cancelations follow follow the usual "cancel.", "!cyberspam", and "X-Canceled-By:" conventions. The austin.usenet.config newsgroup would be the best place to discuss any concerns about them. A Usenet Death Penalty (UDP) action has been instituted against these postings. Any continuation of this abuse will be detected automatically, and subsequent advisory net-abuse cancelations will be issued by the monitoring software. This means that all news servers that honor these cancels will discard all ongoing postings of this type, until I am notified that the responsible parties will stop abusing austin.*. Immediately below is a list of the messages affected. A sample message from this collection follows that. Please see to view archived copies of these messages or for more information on abuse cancels. $Id: spam,v 1.2 1997/11/23 17:13:49 chip Exp $ === snip snip - list of messages follows ===================================== === snip snip - sample follows =============================================== === snip snip ================================================================
